Barbara Doran, founder of Morag Loves Company, Newfoundland, has been writing, directing and producing internationally acclaimed documentary and drama for the past 30 years and has more than 30 films to her credit. Some of these include: RANDOM PASSAGE, THE GRAND SEDUCTION, LOVE AND SAVAGERY and NEWFOUNDLAND AT ARMAGEDDEON.
Barbara has worked and filmed in over 25 countries from Tasmania to The Arctic Circle to South Africa. And from Russia to Norway. The diverse subjects of her films reflect the breadth of her interests: the sweatshops in Guatemala, women prisoners in Pakistan, AIDS workers in South Africa, serial killers on death row, artists, politicians and social activists.
Barbara was appointed as a Mentor to the Pierre Elliot Trudeau Foundation and she was given an Honourary Doctor of Laws from Memorial University of Newfoundland awards include: ARTSNL’s Artist of the Year, The Export Entrepreneur of the Year award from the Newfoundland & Labrador Organization of Women. She recently received The Trailblazer’s Award from the Women’s International Film Festival.
